moved to ICU
Dad was moved to ICU late last night. It is a much better atmosphere than the emergency room (he was there for 70 hours). They cleaned him up, gave him a new bed and some new sheets, and replaced his bandages. His temperature has been spiking periodically, but Tylenol and antibiotics have kept the fever at bay. There were moments during all of the moving around last night where it was clear that he was very uncomfortable, but he would simply respond to the requests of the nurses by giving a "thumbs-up". It was hard not to be proud of him.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the update. We love your family so much.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update AND the pictures! Your parents have touched the lives of more people than I could begin to count! Their influence spreads all over the world as missionaries have gone out from here with blessings from your father. Wow. Giving thumbs up when he is so uncomfortable. I am not surprised, just inspired.
ReplyDeleteSudden loss is tough. Our prayers have been sent heavenward for your family since the day we found out. I am so thankful for the Plan of Salvation. I have no doubt your Mother is there in the hospital with your Father. No doubt that she will be with each of her children and loved ones in comfort.

Thank you so much for letting us know how your family is doing. Your entries are so touching, helpful and uplifting. We are in the Silva Valley Ward and have been so blessed by our association with President Wood. I too thought that I would love to come and sit quietly by his bedside if someone in the family were not able to be close by at that time. Your communication helps us find comfort. We will watch closely any updates and continue to pray constantly for your family.
ReplyDeleteAll our love,
Robert and Melissa Sanders

ReplyDeleteYour mom is one of the elect ladies of our time! She will be missed, but always remembered! You are in our thoughts and prayers! We send our love from the Antioch area!
I am so sorry for your loss. Your parents are the best kind of people I know. I think I even remember your mom took notes during my confirmation. In short they have a significant impact for good in my life and I'd like you to know that.
ReplyDeleteI guess I should have put my name -Nick Stanley
ReplyDeleteOur hearts and minds have been sobered since hearing about the terrible accident. We so admire and appreciate your parents' loving leadership and your great family. They are definitely eternal sweethearts. Your mom elevated us in sharing her many talents. She deeply touched our teenage daughters with her words, and we always felt her strength and righteousness through her musical abilities and hard work to protect the families of this great country and world. She inspired us to be bolder with taking a stand. She was actively engaged here and leading the way for us to do the same. No doubt she is missed here as she actively works from the other side of the veil now. Thank you so very much for keeping us informed as we desperately wish to help in any way possible. Thank you for sharing them with us. Their lives and now tragic accident have made us hug each other a little more and think a bit more before we react to each other. Our fast, prayers and hearts are with you.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Kathi Athey, nee Wood. Your dad is a cousin of mine but I also knew your mom in college. I am very sorry for your loss. She was a vital individual. I was astounded by the news when my mother, Aunt Dixie Wood, told me. My family is remembering you in our prayers. We think of you with love and concern. I would be happy to sit with your dad. I live not too far away in Dublin, CA.
Love, Kathi Athey
Dear Wood Family,
ReplyDeleteWe have fasted and prayed for all of you and our family shares our tears with you through this extremely difficult time. We want you to know how much we love your family. Your mother was an amazing woman who we admired so much. The thing we admired most about her was how much she loved her Savior Jesus Christ and her family. She adored you, her children, and we loved to see her face light up with that beautiful smile whenever she talked about you. Your dad is equally as special and wonderful. We pray for a quick recovery for him.
Our hearts share a small bit of your sorrows knowing we can't possibly comprehend what you are currently going through. We pray that you will have the Comforter by you to give each of you the strength and peace you need to get through these difficult times. Please know that we are here for you in any way to help and comfort your family. We all love you dearly and want to do whatever we can to lighten your burdens.
Love,
The Fellows Family

ReplyDeleteWe are praying for each of you and are proud of how faithful and hopeful you all are. We love your Grandma Gail and your parents and are honored to be your cousins.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Jennie (Gardner) Savage
P.S. My mom, Donna Gardner, is your Grandma Gail's sister.
Your mother was there for me when I thought I would not make it one more day. She had just met me and it felt as if we had known each other forever. She reminded me who I was and why I was here. She kept me busy with the Lord's work, which she loved with all of her heart. The many hours we spent together were filled with words of her great love for her family and her loving Savior. We love you all and pray for you sweet Father, I am so grateful that he has strong children like all of you. I will do my best to carry on the great work that your loving mother and my sweet friend and mentor began. It is an honor to know you all and serve you in any way that we can each one of you kids have a special place in my heart. Thank you for providing this link to your family.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,

I met your mom and dad many years ago when they lived in Antioch, but did not know them well. However, I feel a connection with the Wood family, as I grew up in Clayton, in the same stake as the Wood family, when they lived in Walnut Creek. ( I am the same age as your Aunt Tammy, and my brother is the same age as your Aunt Michelle.) My parents knew your grandparents, and we had associations with the family over the years. Although my association with your family is somewhat remote, I have been very affected by the news of the tragic accident. I do know enough about your parents to know that they are both amazing, talented and valiant! I have been impressed with the strength and the faith you have shown as you have shared updates on the blog site. Your dad, and your family, have been in my prayers! Love and caring from Dana (Arnold) Renshaw
ReplyDeleteDear Wood Family,
ReplyDeleteI served in the Buenos Aires North Mission with you father back in 1976-77.
My mother died in 2003. When she died I had a special dream about her. She was young again and in a beautiful outfit. I woke up to the phone ringing. It was my dad to tell me that she had died. Later, I felt impressed that she was telling me that she had met the Prophet Joseph Smith and that she had met the Savior.
I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I feel for you at this time when your mother was taken so quickly and unexpectedly.
I do know that she is very much alive in Spirit
and would be ministering to your father at this time. Last night, before I read the e-mail from the Mission about the accident, I had a dream about a woman who was looking for a freeway exit. I thought it strange and did not understand why I would dream about that.
My prayers are with you at this time. May each new day bring you added strength from our Lord and the sunshine of hope in your hearts to see you through this trying time.
Love-
(Hermana Lyon)Charlene Fjerstad
Yhe news of the accident has greived me. I took voice lessons from your mother years ago in Antioch. My prayes go out to you and your father that he will mend physically and have peace and comfort about the loss of Kathy. We sre so blessed to have the understanding the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings. Thoughts and prayers, Katie Wirig
